Proteye Safety Glasses BV was founded in 1992 and has its roots since 1893 in Middelburg, The Netherlands. Initially as an optician Focus Optiek. In the 1950s, we grew into a manufacturer of personal protection products Focus Veilig.
This company was sold in 1990 and split into various parts. Our founder, the Hulshof family, started in 1992 as a manufacturer of specialized optical products: Proteye Safety Glasses. We supply these safety glasses for the European market.
Since 2016, Proteye is part of the Hilco Europe Group. The Hilco Europe is part of the Hilco Company and is active worldwide in supplying products to the optical industry. Hilco Europe consists of Hilco UK, Breitfeld&Schliekert GmbH, Lexxoo International, Optiplus and Proteye Safety Glasses BV.
Proteye is a manufacturer and develops its own safety glasses. The work glasses we produce are custom made, such as safety glasses, screen glasses and compressed air mask glasses. We also produce some specialist consumer products; diving glasses and prescription swimming goggles and sports glasses for squash and sports with higher risks of eye injury.
The safety glasses are produced with various lens types, single, bifocal and progressive (multifocal) versions. These are made in the different materials: CR 39 (ordinary plastic), thermally hardened mineral and ProLite. ProLite is light, thin, very strong and has good chemical resistance in addition to a high impact.
The safety glasses in CR 39 and hardened mineral are all certified to 2016/425 with EN 166 and EN 172 and fall into class 1S. The safety glasses made of ProLite material are certified with EN 166 and EN 172 fall into class 1F.
The certified safety sunglasses and even self-tinting safety glasses are certified with EN 172.
Due to our large stock of single lenses, we can usually deliver these glasses to the optician dealer within 3 days. The prescription bifocal and progressive versions have a delivery time of approx. 10 days.
